Editor Windows
are windows that display images full sized. They are opened for
you when you select the File>Open... menu item, double click on an icon
inside of a Browser or Shadow or Clone images. This section describes
uses of Editor Windows.
Displaying
Images in Editor Windows
You need
to perform one of the following steps to display an image in an Editor
Window:
- Open
a file by name - Select File>Open... and select a file to be opened.
Once you do this M3 will open an Editor Window, load the image file,
and display it.
- Open
a file using Browsers - Double click on icons inside of Browsers
to open display them in Editor Windows. You can also drag-and-drop
an icon in an already open Editor Window to replace its image.
- Shadow
an image - To shadow an image use a pop-up menu and select the Shadow
menu item. A shadow of an image is the exact same image shown
through another window. Cropping or modifying one will result
in updates to both. You can use Shadowing to display fill sized
images shown in some tools, particularly M3's Slideshow.
You can also shadow images by drag-and-dropping images while holding
down the link keys.
- Clone
an image - To clone an image use a pop-up menu and select the Clone
menu item. A clone of an image is a copy of that image shown through
another window. Modifications to one clone will not effect the
other since they are two distinct images. You can also clone images
by drag-and-dropping images.
Magnifying
images
To change
the magnification of an image use the View>Zoom In 2X, View>Zoom
Out 2X, or View>Actual Size menu item or enter a magnification
percentage into the zoom field located in the upper-right hand corner
of the Editor Window. (The Zoom field is only shown if you have
not turned off the Editor Window's toolbar and the Editor Window is large
enough to be able to hold one)
Cropping
an image
To crop
an image use the mouse pointer to draw a rectangle on it and select the
Edit>Crop menu item; if available.
Applying
an effect to the image
To apply
a filter or an effect to the image displayed in an Editor Window:
- Select
the desired effect from the main window's menu bar.
- Adjust
the fields on the effect dialog and press the Apply.
- If necessary,
adjust the fields and re-Apply until you get the desired effect.
Applying
an effect between two images
To apply
a filter or an effect between two images displayed in Editor Windows:
Select the desired effect from the main window's menu bar.
- Drag-and-drop
link the source Editor Window to the upper image area in the effect
dialog. (or to one of multiple input areas)
- Drag-and-drop
link the result Editor Window to the lower image area in the effect
dialog. (or to one of the multiple output areas)
- Press
Apply.
- If necessary,
adjust the fields and re-Apply until you get the desired effect.
Every time you apply or reapply, the source image is read and the target
image is modified based on it. (they must be the same dimensions)
Using this
method of applying filters you can link the upper and lower image areas
of different effect dialogs to each other creating linked effects.
