FAQ: SX Paint memory requirements.
SX Paint
should run comfortably with 32 Megs of RAM. The following table provides
addtional memory usage information:
Action:
SX Paint program started on a 24-bit 1280x1024 screen.
Memory Usage:
2.4 Meg RAM
7.1 Meg Swapper committed. (31 Meg Swapper requested by application)
Action:
SX Paint image window open.
Memory Usage:
1 byte minimum per pixel, 8 bytes maximum. (Minimum is for a 8-bit
image, maximum is for a 48-bit image with a 65536 level Alpha channel.)
Action:
SX Paint image processing operation.
Memory Usage:
This value is hard to calculate. Generally you can expect SX Paint to
use twice as much as it does to hold the image in memory.
Action:
Directory Browser used.
Memory Usage:
Memory for every image displayed plus images cached. There can be as many
as 5 images multiplied by number of columns shown cached. Generally, you
will want about 80M swap space minimum to use the Directory Browser.
NOTE: This activity takes the most amount of memory.
NOTE: This activity and image painting result in serious loss of computer
memory and swapper space if you have not upgraded to FixPack 1. This memory
loss applies to all CPU intensive Graphics applications on a not-upgraded
Warp 4.0, not just SX Paint.
